Perfection Apricots

Perfection apricots are the only variety of apricots that we grow. They are a much larger and sweeter variety than most apricots. Although they are sweet, they have a very nice tart flavor near the skin as well. Perfection apricots are very soft and have a pit that is hardly connected to the fruit at all. They are very popular for canning and drying because of their ease to cut into perfect looking slices and widely popular for making into jams because of their tarter aftertaste.

Fortune Plums

Fortune plums are the fist variety of plums to come into season that we grow. We only have a small quantity of them because we primarily use them as pollinators for other crops. These plums are very meaty and have a strong tart flavor along with a nice sweetness.

Jackpot Plums

Presidential plums are the last variety of plums that we grow. We only have a small quantity of them because we primarily use them as pollinators for other crops. These plums are very meaty and have a strong tart flavor along with a nice sweetness.

Dino Egg Pluots

Dino Egg pluots have a red, yellow, and purple splotched skin with a creamy pink flesh. The Dino Egg is very sweet and has a nice strong tart flavor depending on how ripe they are. The riper the Dino Egg the sweeter and less tart. Some people prefer the stronger tart flavors and purposely eat these under ripe. The darker the fruit, the riper it is.

Organic vs. Non-Organic

Here at Martin Family Orchards we pride ourselves on growing our fruit in a way that we think is clean and responsible. We are not Organic certified but we do have a Global Gap certification. The Global Gap certification is a different certification process than Organic, through a different company, with different guidelines. Like Organic, Global Gap has restrictions on what kind of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers you can use. As opposes to popular belief, Organic does not mean “no spray” especially with tree grown fruit. There are plenty of Organic certified pesticide that are commonly used, and we even use some of them. With Global Gap we think we can grow in a way that is clean, responsible, and produces some great fruit.
